Abstract

Native germplasm characterization is fundamental to the understanding of genetic diversity and its use in the breeding of grain quality to meet consumer demand and improve their nutrition without changing your eating habits. Therefore, the aim of this study was to estimate the genetic variability of 111 native bean genotypes (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) from different states of Mexico with RAPD markers and physical quality attributes, culinary and protein content. Genetic similarity was found between varieties by the method of arithmetic unweighted paired group (UPGMA). With the data on quality, we performed a principal component analysis and hierarchical clustering. When all varieties were used to generate the dendrograms, the groups were not clear, but appeared to be determined by geographic location, when analyzed separately genotypes of yellow mustard and black, both groups were generated either defined or similar to those obtained with the technological characteristics and RAPDs. Native genotypes by combining outstanding cooking quality characteristics and high in protein (> 24.8%) were Ph.vulg. 2346 (beige), Ph.vulg. 403 (sulfur), Ph.vulg. 2435 (bay) and Ph. vulg. 2519 (yellow mustard), which could be useful in breeding programs.
