Abstract

In San José Chiapa, Puebla, corn is the main crop and its management varies according to edaphoclimatic context, social and economic, this explains the differentiated yields obtained. The present study is aimed to recognize the types of technologies and how they influence the productivity of maize in the municipality of study. In the collection of information a survey was applied to a representative sample of producers in 2009. To analyze the information, was classified according to the producers levels of use of technology using the rate of appropriation of modern technologies (RAMT) and the degree of use of farming technologies (DUFT). It was found that modern technologies were predominant in soil preparation, weed control and fertilization, while the peasant technology prevailed in the plowing and seed type, organic fertilization, partnership, crop rotation and soil conservation. The county average yield (2 767 kg ha-1) exceeded the state performance (2 160 kg ha-1). It was noted that the use technology in intermediate and no difference was found between the yields of producers who grow under rainfed or irrigated conditions.
