Abstract

The new potato crop “Enrica” is suitable for the chip industry; it was developed in INIFAP’s experimental station in La Sierra de Arteaga and resulted from a corss between “Atlantic” e “Ireri” in 1991 This new crop has a growing cycle of 100-110 days after germination, with 10 days later than the cv Antlantic. Enrica has tubers with superficial buds with a yellow color for the peel and a little rough; the flesh is a white color with 20% to 22% of soluble solid and 98% to 100% of highly suitable chips for the industry. Enrica has an excellent chip quality and has been shown to have high production levels in the mountainsofArteaga,Coahuila;ValledeNavidad,Nuevo León, and León, Guanajuato.
