Abstract

In various regions of Mexico as the state of Chiapas, government programs have been established to offer and provide economic resources for the creation of micro and small enterprises; the programs promote agricultural development to reduce poverty and marginalization levels of rural areas. Many enterprices start their activities, in short periods of time fail and disappear; others remain for long periods of time and are named successful businesses. To verify this success, was analyzed the information provided by the Agricultural Department of Chiapas, as the data did not adequately describe successful companies, an investigation was made to characterize successful micro and small enterprises form the Altos region of Chiapas by two methods: estimated income generated and comparative qualitative analysis of parameters between enterprises. The research was carried out from August to October 2011. 40 companies were analyzed, distributed in eight of 17 municipalities in the region. Were identified more successful micro and small agricultural enterprises.
