Ónavas F2009, bread wheat cultivar for northwest Mexico

The Ónavas F2009 commercial variety was developed in the Norman E. Borlaug Experiment Station, in a collaborative project between CIMMYT and INIFAP for the producing areas of the States of Sinaloa, Sonora, Baja California Sur and Baja California in Mexico. Its pedigree is KAMBARA1*2/ BRAMBLING, and its past selection CGSS01B00069T- 099Y-099M-099M-099Y-099M-20Y-0B. Ónavas F2009 has the record TRI-121-100910 of the National Catalogue of Plant Varieties. This variety is of spring growth habit and resistant to leaf rust (Puccinia triticina), with an experimental average grain yield of 6 012 t ha-1 with three irrigations in four planting dates.
