Assessing the impacts of technologies generated by agricultural research is an important issue for INIFAP. Initially, this assessment was referred almost exclusively to economic impacts, but in recent times social and environmental dimensions have been incorporated, as a result of concerns about the sustainability of production systems. In 2009, we conducted a series of surveys to the cooperating producers who participated in a technology transfer project for peach, where primary information was gathered on the economic, social and environmental impact on model gardens, promoted for 6 years in a technology transfer project. In addition, a specialized software was used to estimate the economic benefit to society of investment in the project, assuming the adoption of the technology in an area of 5 hectares, and expecting an average yield of 12 tons per hectare. The estimation of the economic return of the research was carried outbycalculatingtheindicatorsofconvenience;inthiscase TIR was estimated at 63.69%, a VAN of $ 23.5 million pesos and a benefit /cost ratio of 7.02, which means that for every peso invested in the generation and dissemination of this practice, the country made a $7 profit.
