Tendencias y dinámica global de la productividad del agua en la agricultura: análisis bibliométrico

Resumen

Incrementar la productividad del agua (WP) de riego es esencial para enfrentar la escasez hídrica y garantizar la sostenibilidad agroalimentaria, especialmente en regiones áridas y semiáridas. Con este propósito, se realizó un análisis bibliométrico de la literatura científica sobre WP en la agricultura. El objetivo de esta investigación fue caracterizar la producción científica mundial, las tendencias globales, los actores más influyentes y las principales líneas de investigación en este campo. Se analizaron 3 833 documentos publicados en Scopus entre 1983 y 2024 mediante indicadores bibliométricos. Los resultados evidencian un crecimiento exponencial de la producción científica a partir de 2009. China, India y Estados Unidos de América concentran el 55% de la producción mundial. La revista más influyente fue Agricultural Water Management con 776 publicaciones, mientras que la China Agricultural University destacó como la institución con 181 publicaciones y 7 058 citas. El mapeo temático identificó cinco clústeres principales: estrategias agronómicas, sostenibilidad y cambio climático, manejo de cultivos estratégicos, modelación agrícola y bases ecofisiológicas. En síntesis, la productividad del agua se ha consolidado como un eje estratégico de la investigación agrícola global. Este estudio ofrece una visión integral que puede guiar futuras investigaciones, impulsar la innovación agronómica y fortalecer las políticas para una gestión más eficiente del agua en la agricultura.
